Adrienne Graves, Ph.D.
President and Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Adrienne Graves was appointed President and CEO of Santen Incorporated in 2002. She joined Santen in 1995 and served as Senior Vice President, Worldwide Clinical Development. In that role, Dr. Graves was responsible for building a strong global team that successfully developed products in major therapeutic areas, obtaining three FDA approvals in less than four years.
Prior to joining Santen, Dr. Graves served in several high-profile positions at Alcon Laboratories including Director of International Ophthalmology and Clinical Sciences. At Alcon, Dr. Graves was recognized with an award for technical excellence for her role in establishing visual function studies.
Before joining Alcon in 1986, Dr. Graves conducted research in visual psychophysics and electrophysiology at a number of prestigious institutions. As an undergraduate at Brown University, she studied under Dr. Lorrin Riggs. At Harvard Medical School/Children’s Hospital she conducted neurophysiological research under Dr. Anne Fulton. Dr. Graves then received her Ph.D. at the University of Michigan, studying animal models of amblyopia under Dr. Daniel G. Green. Dr. Graves completed a post-doctoral fellowship in visual neuroscience at the University of Paris and is fluent in French. She is the author/co-author of more than 30 scientific articles.
In addition to her role as President and CEO of Santen Incorporated, she serves as a corporate officer for Santen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., and serves on the board of directors for OccuLogix, Inc. She also serves on the boards of the AAO (American Academy of Ophthalmology) Foundation, the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology, and the Corporation Committee for the Brown University Medical School. She co-founded OWL (Ophthalmic Women Leaders) with Dr. Marguerite McDonald.

Schalon Newton, EDM
Vice President, Strategic Marketing & Business Development
Dr. Schalon Newton has been Santen’s Vice President, Strategic Marketing & Business Development, since joining the company February 2006. He has been involved in the international ophthalmic arena for more that 20 years. Prior to his joining Santen, Dr. Newton was a principal at Louis Allen Worldwide where he consulted on organization change management. He also worked for over 21 years at Allergan, Inc. where he held various management positions in finance, sales and marketing, general management, and business development. Schalon holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from California State University, Northridge, a M.B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley, and an E.D.M. from Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Newton is an active member of the American Academy of Management and has presented papers on leadership, management careers, and gender related career issues at the American Academy of Management, British Academy of Management, Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychologists, and International Academy of Management and Business.

Pamela Gleeson
Chief Financial Officer
Pamela Gleeson joined Santen in 1997 and has been Chief Financial Officer since 2003. She began her career at KPMG, and held finance positions in the high tech, mortgage banking services and retail food industries. During her 10 years at Santen, Pamela has held positions in business development, project management, new product development and marketing before heading up the finance function and serving on the executive strategy committee. Pamela holds a BS degree in Business Administration (Finance and Accounting) from the University of California at Berkeley and is a California Certified Public Accountant (inactive).
